Yes, there’s a monkey in Bad Monkey

The 10-episode series will tell the story of Andrew Yancy (played by Vaughn), a one-time detective demoted to restaurant inspector in Southern Florida. A severed arm found by a tourist pulls Yancy into the world of greed and corruption that decimates the land and environment in both Florida and the Bahamas. (And there’s really a monkey.)

It’s based on Carl Hiaasen’s 2013 Bad Monkey novel. The book is a comedy but Apple describes its upcoming TV series as a drama.

Vince Vaughn’s breakthrough was in The Lost World: Jurassic Park. Since then, many of his roles have been in comedies, like Wedding Crashers and Old School, through he had a reoccurring role on the True Detective series.

Bill Lawrence is best known for Ted Lasso but was also a showrunner/producer for Scrubs. He’s been involved in a number of other comedies, like Spin City and Cougar Town.

It’s not known when Bad Monkey will premiere on Apple TV+.

Apple TV+ offers other crime dramas

This won‘t be the only crime drama on Apple’s streaming service.  There’s Truth Be Told, which is about to start season two. Another option is Defending Jacob staring Chris Evans. Looking ahead, Uma Thurman will star in Suspicion, and Apple TV+ will adapt City on Fire into a series.

In addition to dramas, there are comedies, thrillers, children’s shows and documentaries. And more. Watching these on Apple’s streaming service costs $4.99 a month.
