Apple TV+ gave a first look at a hotly anticipated comedy starring the brilliant Will Ferrell and Paul Rudd. A trailer for The Shrink Next Door premiered on Thursday, and the streaming service revealed that the limited series will debut November 12.

Watch the trailer now for an early glimpse:

The Shrink Next Door is based on real events

The 8-episode series is inspired by true events that detail the bizarre relationship between psychiatrist-to-the-stars Dr. Isaac “Ike” Herschkopf (Rudd) and his longtime patient Martin “Marty” Markowitz (Ferrell). “The series explores how a seemingly normal doctor-patient dynamic morphs into an exploitative relationship filled with manipulation, power grabs, and dysfunction at its finest,” said Apple.

The Shrink Next Door is based on a 2019 podcast of the same name. The project will team Ferrell and Rudd on screen together for the first time since Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues.

Apple TV+ knows comedy

Watching  it requires a $4.99-per-month subscription to Apple TV+. But along with it comes plenty more series and films, including thrillers, crime dramas, sci-fi, documentaries and more.

Another dark comedy is Rose Byrne’s Physical, set to premiere June 18. More twisted humor is playing now in Mythic Quest season two. And there’s Central Park season two coming later this summer, and these are just a handful of examples available on the streaming service.
