Apple wins trademark for Apple Card in Canada

Apple Card’s ‘elite card’ status is hitting retailers in the wallet
Does this mean Apple Card is coming to Canada?

Apple launched its Apple Card credit card back in 2019 but, so far, it’s only been available to customers in the United States.

That may soon change, however, with eagle-eyed Apple watchers spotting that Apple has been granted two trademark applications in Canada, covering both Apple Card and Apple Cash.

Both trademarks were originally filed in July 2019, a month before Apple Card launched. But it has taken until January 25, 2021 for them to be approved.

While this is no guarantee that Apple will, in fact, launch Apple Card in Canada immediately (it filed trademarks for multiple Apple Music radio stations back in 2015, but took years more until it actually pulled the trigger on them), it does at least offer a glimmer of hope for those who have wanted to use Apple’s credit card, despite not living in the United States.

Since launching Apple Card, Apple has continued to hone the service. One of the features in the latest iOS 14.5 beta version is an Apple Card Family service, allowing users to share Apple Card with friends and family in a family group. This enables them to “build credit together, track spending, and receive Daily Cash.”

The big advantages of Apple Card are its no fees, 2% daily cash back, and intuitive UI that makes it easy to keep tabs on your spending.
