CES 2021 bugThe Envoy Pro FX is a 2 terabyte SSD that’s “built like a tank” according to OWC, its maker. The solid state drive is compatible with Mac, iPad, and many other devices. Plus, it can transfer data at up to 2800 MB/s.

Monday is the kickoff of CES 2021, so OWC also took the wraps off an updated version of its travel USB-C multi-port adapter.

OWC Envoy Pro FX

OWC calls its new SSD the “fastest, most compatible, waterproof and ultra rugged drive available.”

It supports both Thunderbolt and USB-C connections. No other power source is necessary. That means the Envoy Pro FX boasts Mac and PC compatibility spanning back to 2010. It also works with iPad Pro and iPad Air with USB-C ports.

But OWC really put the emphasis on ruggness. It’s dustproof and waterproof. And the drive has MIL-STD810G certified military-level drop toughness. “It’s so tough that it was sent into space and back aboard the Blue Origin New Shepard rocket,” notes OWC. “Whether you’re dropping it in a puddle or suspending it in zero-G, the Envoy Pro FX has all the right stuff.”

It will be available in storage capacities from 240GB to 2TB. The debut is scheduled for January 2021, with prices starting at $169 on MacSales.com.

OWC USB-C Travel Dock E

In 2019, OWC introduced the its USB-C Travel Dock. On Monday, it unveiled an updated version that stays tough and rugged but adds Gigabit Ethernet.

The hockey-puck size product connects to a Mac, iPad or PC via a built-in USB-C cable. It includes a USB-A port for connecting to a range of peripherals at up to 5 Gbps. There’s also an HDMI port with support for 4K video, and an SD card reader, in addition to the new RJ45 Ethernet port.

OWC’s upcoming accessory offers USB-C 100W power pass-through so your computer can charge while connected to this hub.

The OWC USB-C Travel Dock E will be available before the end of Q1 2021 in Space Gray for $64.99 at MacSales.com.
