Apple has released the first trailer for its upcoming Billie Eilish documentary, The World’s A Little Blurry.
The documentary, which Apple reportedly paid $25 million to acquire, will debut on Apple TV+ February 26. The trailer depicts Eilish in her regular home life, on stage, and also shows off home video of the pop star as a kid. Check it out below.
This isn’t the first time Eilish has been associated with Apple. Eilish performed at the Apple Music Awards from the Steve Jobs Theater in December 2019. Eilish was named Apple’s Global Artist of the Year, along with Songwriter of the Year, shared with her brother Finneas, who also features in the upcoming documentary. She also co-hosted a limited Apple Music radio show with her father, Patrick O’Connell, earlier this year.
The forthcoming Apple TV+ documentary promises to fit in nicely among Apple’s other music-oriented documentaries. The most notable of these is the excellent Beastie Boys Story, but Apple Music (prior to the launch of Apple TV+) also hosted 808: The Movie, one based on the Cash Money rap label, and assorted other music docs.
Whether The World’s A Little Blurry can touch the excellence of Beastie Boy Story remains to be seen. (I’m more into the music of the Beasties, but a good documentary is a good documentary.) It does have considerable talent behind it, however. It’s directed by R.J. Cutler, the director of the superb Vogue documentary The September Issue.
