Pixelmator Pro 2.0 for macOS is out with an all-new design and support for Apple Silicon. The newest release also features a simplified Effects Browser, a new Workspaces feature, and more.

Apple’s new M1 chip is off to a terrific start, posting impressive benchmark scores and blowing reviewers away with its performance. It is also being quickly embraced by some big macOS developers.

Adobe, Google, and many more have confirmed or already released updates that bring Apple Silicon support. And now Pixelmator is doing the same with its new Pixelmator Pro 2.0 release.

Pixelmator Pro 2.0 out now

Today’s update means that Pixelmator Pro runs natively on the new Mac mini, MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro with an M1 chip. That should mean a faster, more reliable experience than before.

The version 2.0 release takes full advantage of the 16-core Neural Engine offered by the M1 for snappier machine learning. This allows certain features, like Super Resolution, to work up to 15x faster.

And that’s not all. Pixelmator 2.0 also includes a simplified Effects Browser that makes it easier to find and apply image effects, and a new Workspaces feature that lets you customize the look of the app.

You can download this update now from the Mac App Store. It’s free to existing Pixelmator Pro users, or $39.99 to new customers. A free trial is available through the Pixelmator website.
