Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman travel across South and Central America on electric Harley-Davidson motorcycles in new Apple TV+ series Long Way Up.
Apple debuted the first three episodes of the road-tripping series Friday, with subsequent episodes being released every Friday.
Like Apple Music’s Carpool Karaoke series, Apple did not originate Long Way Up. McGregor and Boorman previously did two series of the show (2004’s Long Way Round from London to New York, and 2007’s Long Way Down from John o’ Groats to Cape Town). However, this is their first collaboration in more than a decade — and the first produced for Apple.
In Long Way Up, McGregor and Boorman drive from Ushuaia in Argentina through South and Central America to Los Angeles in the United States. You can read Cult of Mac reviewer Scout Tafoya’s review of the show here. Tafoya wasn’t a fan of Long Way Up (and, to be fair, other early reviews don’t appear to be either). With that said, I enjoyed their earlier series together and am definitely interested in checking this one out.
In addition to Long Way Up, Apple TV+ also got a new episode of comedy series Ted Lasso. The show stars Jason Sudeikis as a fish-out-of-water football coach who gets a job leading a soccer team in the UK. (Again, check out Cult of Mac‘s review here.) I’m enjoying Lasso so far, which has turned out to be weirdly affecting. The preview for episode 8 reads as follows:
“Ted and Roy are both having relationship problems. Ted consults the Diamond Dogs while Roy lays it on the line with Keeley.”

Apple TV+ is available for $4.99 per month, or for free for one year if you buy a new iPad, iPhone, Mac or Apple TV. This week, Apple also announced its new bundle subscription service Apple One, which includes Apple TV+ as part of a broader collection of services for a knock-down price. It will make its debut later this fall.
