The world got its first glimpse of upcoming Apple TV+ animated movie Wolfwalkers, thanks to a trailer dropped Tuesday.

The movie, directed by Oscar-nominated Tom Moore (Song of the Sea) and Ross Stewart, follows the adventures of a young apprentice hunter named Robyn Goodfellowe. She travels to Ireland in the 1600s to help her father in pursuit of a wolf pack — only to meet a girl who is part of a tribe rumored to turn into wolves at night.

Robyn is voiced by Honor Kneafsey, while her father, Bill, is played by Sean Bean.

The trailer looks intriguingly spellbinding in a kind of Spirited Away sense. (And if it can achieve 1/100th of what that movie achieved, Apple is on to a massive winner.)

Wolfwalkers: Apple TV+’s first animated movie

Apple TV+ already dipped its toe into animation through various kid-focused series. It also created an ambitious short animated film for this year’s Earth Day, featuring an A-list cast. However, Wolfwalkers is the first feature-length animated movie coming to Apple TV+. The movie, which runs 100 minutes, arrives at a time when Apple TV+ is focusing more heavily on movies.

Wolfwalkers will debut on Apple TV+ “soon.” Before then, it will make its North American debut at the Toronto International Film Festival, which kicks off September 10.
