Netflix made a selection of its popular shows and movies available for free over the weekend. The freebies include hit sci-fi show Stranger Things, Boss Baby: Back in Business and several more.
Watching these Netflix originals doesn’t require signing up with streaming service — but for some strange reason, they can’t be viewed on an iPhone.

“Netflix is the premiere destination for all your entertainment needs,” the streaming service says on its website. “But don’t take our word for it — check out some of our favorite movies and TV shows, absolutely free.”
Other current offerings include Elite, Murder Mystery, Bird Box, When They See Us, Love Is Blind, The Two Popes, Our Planet and Grace and Frankie. It’s a mix of dramas and comedies.
However, Netflix says “the selection may change from time to time.” So if there’s not anything there now that interests you, you might check back in the future.
Free Netflix for all … but not you, iPhone
To watch any of these, just go to netflix.com/watch-free. It’s not necessary to register. Just press the “Watch Now” button for any show or movie on the list.
But it is necessary to visit this page with a Mac or iPad. Attempting to watch any of this free content with an iPhone results only in a note from Netflix stating, “We’re sorry, this device (iPhone) doesn’t support our free preview. You can watch on a desktop computer, a laptop, or an Android phone.”
Requesting the desktop version of the website didn’t fool Netflix, as the videos still wouldn’t play.
