TikTok enjoyed another month at the top of the App Store charts in June, becoming the most downloaded non-gaming iOS app, according to a new report from Sensor Tower.

The leading app analytics firm says the Chinese social video app was installed more than 87 million times last month on iOS and Android. That represents an impressive 52.7% increase from June 2019.

The United States accounted for 8.7% of installs, making it the second-biggest market for TikTok after India.

At least when it comes to downloads, TikTok has had a great year so far. In the first three months of 2020, TikTok registered the best quarter of any app ever.

Not everything is quite so rosy, though. This week, we’ve heard rumblings of a possible TikTok ban in the United States over privacy concerns. Asked if people should download the app, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, “Only if you want your private information in the hands of the Chinese Communist Party.”

TikTok is also reportedly being investigated over possible child-protection issues.

Another good month for Zoom, too

After TikTok, the second-most-installed non-gaming iOS app in June was Zoom. The video-conferencing app was downloaded a massive 71.2 million times. That’s 34 times its download figures from June 2019. Again, India ranked as the No. 1 country for installs, followed by the United States.

You can check out the rest of the top 10 non-gaming app downloads on iOS and Android in the chart below. Unlike many industries, app developers continue to do pretty well during the coronavirus lockdown. It turns out that people being stuck in their homes gives them way more time to download apps.
