Oak Felder writes and produces music for some of today’s top artists. In a new Apple video, he talks about the importance of technology that makes it easy to turn musical ideas into reality.

Watch it now:

“Follow hitmaking, Grammy-nominated songwriter and music producer Oak Felder as he creates a new song,” says Apple about the new video, called “In the studio with Grammy-nominated music producer Oak Felder.”

During the video, Felder records tracks from a drummer and singer. Then he combines them on a new 16-inch MacBook Pro running Logic Pro X. (Apple made the pro music-production app free for 90 days during the COVID-19 crisis.)

Apple makes music production available to almost anyone

Between recording sessions, Felder talks about how technology brings music production to many more people.

“How unfair is it that you have this amazing 18-year-old kid that might have a crazy idea, but they can’t get it out,” Felder says in the video. “They can’t have it fully realized the way that it’s supposed to be realized. Technology gives them the capability to potentially make something better than I would make. That’s important.”

Felder racked up a 2015 Grammy nomination for Best R&B Song for writing Usher’s single, “Good Kisser.” He’s produced songs for Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, Alessia Cara and many more artists.
