New images leaked online seems to confirm rumors that iOS 14 will offer Home screen widgets similar to the ones found on Android. These widgets could potentially provide useful pieces of information to suit each user.

The same image also appears to confirm that the iPhone 12’s notch will hang around for another year. However, although it may get a bit smaller than previous iterations.

The pair of images — one showing the back, one showing the front — of Apple’s forthcoming iPhone 12 was posted by Twitter user @choco_bit. According their profile, they “run discord server for Apple/AASP employees, [and] collect fun stuff that apple shouldnt (sic) leak.”

There’s no word on where the images come from, although the implication is that they come from an official source, possibly iOS 14.

The image of the back of the handset, meanwhile, backs up previous reports that the new iPhone will boast a LiDAR sensor. This would turn the three camera array seen in the iPhone 11 Pro into a four sensor-array, the fourth of which would be LiDAR.

iOS 14 widgets and iPhone 12

Alongside a LiDAR sensor, this year’s iPhone 12 is rumored to have a number of big upgrades. These include 5G support, a boxier iPhone 4-style design, and Apple’s first 5-nanometer A-series chip.

iOS 14, meanwhile, is shaping up to be one of the most spoiled iOS updates in years with the amount of pre-release leaks. There will reportedly be an augmented reality viewer, tweaks to the home screen, iMessage unsend, and more. Development on the new operating system is reportedly on track — although Apple engineers are having to work from home.
