Sennheiser’s new Momentum True Wireless 2 earbuds are ready to take on AirPods Pro with better battery life and active noise cancellation. They follow the highly rated True Wireless headphones that debuted in 2018, and despite some big improvements, they retain the same $299 price tag.

AirPods are the best-selling headphones in the world, so it’s no surprise every name in tech now offers an alternative. Some of them are rather shamless AirPods clones that aren’t worth your hard-earned cash, but others are good — even great. Reviewers will tell you Sennheiser’s True Wireless buds fit into that “great” category.

That’s mostly because of their spectacular sound quality, but it’s not their only selling point anymore.

Sennheiser’s Momentum True Wireless 2 are even better

The Momentum True Wireless 2 combine impressive audio with active noise cancellation and extended battery life. Sennheiser promises “incredible high-fidelity sound even in noisy environments,” and up to 15 hours of use in between charges. You can extend that to 28 hours with the charging case.

That’s a big advantage over AirPods Pro, which last just five hours on their own, and up to 24 hours with top-ups from the Wireless Charging Case. The True Wireless 2 also offer another useful AirPods feature: They pause your media automatically when you take them out of your ears.

Other features inlude an adjustable equilizer, customizable touch controls, and a Smart Control app that offers additional adjustments.

Available in April

Sennheiser’s new True Wireless 2 buds will be available in black starting next month, priced at $299. They will also come in white “at a later point.”

The original True Wireless aren’t disappearing just yet. Sennheiser fans will still be able to buy those at a discounted rate — they’re not $199.95 — for the foreseeable future.
