Fastmail, the excellent paid email service, just updated its iPhone app to be a) easier to use one-handed and b) easier on the eye. The new app uses bolder headings, a clearer layout, and easy-to-tap shortcut tabs along the bottom of the screen.
The iPad version is also improved, and much cleaner. If you use Fastmail, then you should be using this app.

NetNewsWire: RSS Reader

NetNewsWire, the legendary RSS reader from Ranchero software, just returned to iOS. After some terrible early attempts by the interim owners of the respected NetNewsWire name to make an iPhone app, the original creator, Brett Simmons, is back in charge. And it shows. This is maybe the most polished 1.0 release of any iOS app ever. It’s absurdly fast, fully accessible, and has crazy-good keyboard support. It’s also free. Currently, it only syncs with Feedly or Feedbin, and can be used standalone.

Slideas

Slideas is a new Mac app that lets you create Keynote-style presentations using Markdown as the source. The trick is, you write everything in plain text, using Markdown syntax to format the slides. There are lots of options for further styling the text, but Markdown is the basis. I totally dig it, and I wish there were more ways to use Markdown in this powerful fashion.

Things Apple Watch app

Things, the best to-do list app on any platform, now has a completely revamped Apple Watch app. It’s now a proper independent app that syncs with your Things tasks direct via the cloud, instead of via the iPhone. It also now lets you scribble new tasks, as well as dictating them, and add/remove tasks from the Today view. You can also sync Things with multiple Apple Watches, if you should need to access your to-do list on your sleep watch.
