The latest detail leaking out on a hotly-anticipated low-cost iPhone indicate this handset — possibly called the iPhone SE 2 – will have a back of frosted glass.

Quite a bit of other information about this model has come to light, including its dimensions. Which is not surprising, considering it’s rumored to launch in about two months.

No one outside of Apple knows yet what this iOS model will be called. It’s most often referred to as the iPhone SE 2, and sometimes the iPhone 9.

Unconfirmed details on the iPhone SE 2

The source for the latest information on this budget handset is OnLeaks, working in cooperation with iGeeksBlog.

They report that the frosted glass back will be used to differentiate the look of the iPhone SE 2 from the iPhone 8. Otherwise, the two are expected to be nearly identical.

That means it will have a 4.7-inch screen, Touch ID in a Home button, and a single-lens camera. A glass back also suggests this device will support wireless charging.

OnLeaks indicates the iPhone SE 2/iPhone 9 will be 5.45 inches by 2.65 in. by 0.31 in. (138.5mm x 67.4mm x 7.8mm), which is slightly thicker than the iPhone 8.

There will be supposedly be changes on the inside though, including an Apple A13 processor and 3GB of RAM. This would allow it to run iOS 13 and make use of services like Apple Arcade and Apple TV, which the current iPhone SE can not.

Previous reports have said this device will cost $399, making it $50 less than the current price of the iPhone 8.

OnLeaks: a reliable source

OnLeaks, also known as Steve H.McFly and sometimes Steve Hemmerstoffer, has a record of being a reasonably reliable source of early information on Apple products.

He had renders of the iPhone 11 Pro many months before the debut, for example. On the other hand, he predicted the iPhone SE 2 would be out last year.

OnLeak’s details on the iPhone SE 2 are generally inline with other reports that it will be an updated version of the iPhone 8.
