Academy Award winner Patricia Arquette has signed up to star in Severance, a new thriller on its way to Apple TV+, according to a new report.

Arquette will be directed by Ben Stiller. The pair worked together on Escape at Dannemora, a limited series for Showtime, for which Arquette won another Golden Globe, before her most recent TV role as Dee Dee Blanchard in the acclaimed true crime drama The Act.

Apple TV+ has been running on empty since the series finales of flagship titles The Morning Show, For All Mankind and See debuted over the holidays. Just 74 minutes of new content was added last week. But there’s more on the way in 2020.

Severance is one of the shows Apple has lined up, and it just signed up Arquette for a leading role.

The show is described by Variety, one of the first to confirm Arquette’s appointment, as “a workplace drama that introduces Lumen Industries, a company that’s looking to take work-life balance to a new level.”

Scott plays Mark, an employee “with a dark past trying to put himself back together.” Arquette will play Mark’s boss.

Dan Erickson is a writer and executive producer for the show, alongside Stiller, Chris Black, Nicky Weinstock, and Jackie Cohn of Stiller’s Red House Productions. Scott will also serve as a producer.

Arquette has won a long list of awards for her movie and TV roles. That includes an Emmy for Medium, Golden Globes for Boyhood, Escape from Dannemora, and The Act, and an Oscar for Boyhood.
