LG Electronics used the CES 2020 stage this morning to flaunt a 2020 lineup of more than a dozen new televisions with 4K and 8K displays along with a new Apple TV app.
Imagine watching your Apple TV+ shows on an 88-inch 8K OLED smart TV that is just a penny shy of $30,000.
LG wants a set in as many homes as possible so it launched a lineup with a range of price points, from a few hundred dollars to a few thousand.
LG’s new app could also attract new customers as Apple ramps up its new streaming service. The new LG app will feature support for Apple TV+, a library of Apple TV channels as well as access to thousands of films and TV shows in a user’s iTunes video library.
The app also will work with AirPlay2 and HomeKit and on LG models that go back to 2018.
LG follows Samsung, which announced an Apple TV app for its models in May.
The 2020 LG sets include three art-inspired OLED GX Gallery models, in 88-, 77- and 48-inch sizes. LG also showed off NanoCell LCD TVs in 4K and 8K models. All models have a new processor and artificial intelligence-enabled features to intensify movies, sports and video games.
