CES 2020 Amazon is ramping up its expansion of the Fire TV platform in 2020 by making the streaming media platform available in automobiles and other third-party products.

The company revealed this morning that Fire TV now has over 40 million active users and its coming to even more devices. More than 150 Fire TV Edition devices across multiple product categories will be available by the end of 2020 and everyone from BMW to VOXX Automotive jumping onboard.

“At CES 2017, we announced the first Fire TV Edition smart TV. Now, just three years later, Fire TV Edition has grown into a worldwide program,” said Fire TV boss Marc Whitten.  “The expanded Fire TV Edition program provides companies with the services and tools they need to bring Fire TV to more categories and more screens.”

BMW and Fiat Chrysler are the first two automakers to partner with Amazon for Fire TV. The integration will offer drivers hands-free access to Alexa and a touch screen interface. And like the Fire TV on televisions, you’ll be able to watch movies and TV shows from the most popular services, including Apple TV+. To stream content, you’ll need a vehicle with WiFi or LTE, or use your iPhone as a hot spot.

Fire TV Edition is also coming to more set-top cable boxes. Amazon has already collaborated with Tata Sky in India and Verizon in the U.S. to add Fire TV to set-top boxes and is now partnering with the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC) to make it easier for other companies to do the same.

Amazon also revealed today that it’s bringing new features to its Fire TV soundbars. New features include Dolby Atmos support, HDMI switching and far-field voice control.
