Hot on the heels of scoring multiple Golden Globes nominations, The Morning Show earned three nominations for the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Jennifer Aniston added to her nomination pile with a nomination for best female actor in a drama series. And Steve Carell and Billy Crudup both earned nominations for outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series.

Although it debuted on Apple TV+ to poor early reviews, The Morning Show quickly became Apple’s biggest hit yet, thanks largely to its stellar cast. Crudup’s performance as a zany network executive has been one of the best surprises of the series. The Morning Show deals with a TV news show that struggles in the aftermath of an anchor’s sexual improprieties.

The Morning Show competes in SAG Awards

For the SAG Awards, the actors face stiff competition. Carell and Crudup will compete against Sterling Brown (This Is Us), Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) and David Harbour (Stranger Things). Aniston goes up against Helena Bonham Carter (The Crown), Olivia Colman (The Crown), Jodie Comer (Killing Eve) and Elisabeth Moss (The Handmaid’s Tale).

Production is already underway for The Morning Show season 2. Apple initially purchased 20 episodes of the series after greenlighting it last year.

The other shows on Apple TV+ have not yet achieved as much success. Since launching last month, the streaming service has been rolling out a variety of original shows and movies. See, an action-fantasy series about a post-apocalyptic world in which the human population has lost the ability to see, is the worst-reviewed of the bunch.
