Grownup shows drew most of the attention during the launch of Apple TV+, but children’s programming debuted as well, including Ghostwriter. Not to be overlooked, an extended trailer out today puts attention on this educational thriller.
Watch it now:
Apple’s description for “Ghost Writer — First Look Featurette“ says:
“When a ghost haunts a neighborhood bookstore and starts releasing fictional characters into the real world, four kids must team up to solve an exciting mystery surrounding the ghost’s unfinished business.”
Ghostwriter is intended to be fun and educational
The educational focus is on literature, with classics from Alice in Wonderland to new works commissioned from popular authors like D.J. MacHale and Kwame Alexander.
Ghostwriter is being made by experts in programming that mixes learning and entertainment: Sesame Workshop, which used to be called Children’s Television Workshop. It’s the same group behind Sesame Street.
It’s not expected to stand alone. Other educational options for kids on Apple TV+ include Snoopy in Space and Helpsters.
Access to all the shows on Apple TV+, including Ghostwriter, costs $4.99 a month. But a free one-year subscription is available to anyone who bought selected Apple devices this fall. And for everyone else, there’s a one-week free trial.
