The internet is loaded with tips and accessories for people prone to losing their AirPods. This solution is far from portable and guaranteed not to fit your ear.

But the giant left-eared AirPod is Bluetooth compatible if you don’t mind holding it like, well, a hairdryer.

Reddit readers this week had to blink their eyes to confirm what they were seeing: a working left-eared AirPod that is 10 inches tall.

The creator of AirPod Giant, Aaron B, unveiled it Tuesday on Reddit’s r/mildlyinteresting thread. The picture of his hand holding the mutant earbud has drawn more than 2,000 comments – many saying they thought at first they were looking at a hairdryer.

Aaron B. 3D-printed the housing and used basic window screen to mimic the AirPods’ mesh features, he told the tech culture news site Mashable.

The design and construction took him about 20 hours of work with 15 of those hours to print it. In it is a portable Bluetooth speaker he got for $17 off Amazon.

“I got the idea from someone who made one a few years ago,” Aaron B. told the website. “Their’s was made in a similar way (3D-printed housing and Bluetooth speaker electronics inside), but that model was a bit rough from scaling it up so much.”

He can’t sell the massive AirPod but offered the CAD files for free download on the website GrabCad.
