Apple has released the latest beta version of macOS Catalina. The seventh beta, carrying the build number 19A546d, takes us one step closer to the official release of macOS Catalina, most likely next month.

It comes one week after Apple released beta number six.

If you do want to check it out, beta 7 can be installed by running the macOS Developer Beta Access Utility and then downloading the latest beta version. You will then receive new macOS beta version notifications. These can then be installed via the Software Update panel in System Preferences.

Beta 7 features several fixes. These relate to the Cloud Files section in “About This Mac,” the CloudKit Share URL, and more.

As ever, we’d recommend not installing this beta on your primary work machine. While it’s crucial that developers get to put it through its paces ahead of time, beta versions frequently have bugs which can break certain applications.

Coming soon to a Mac near you

Technically named macOS 10.15, Catalina was first shown off at WWDC back in June.

Its biggest feature includes splitting iTunes up into several applications: Apple Music, Apple Podcast and Apple TV. In addition, Sidecar will let you easily use your iPad as a second display. It will also port ScreenTime over to Mac from iOS, and introduce Project Catalyst.
