You can now enjoy the App Store’s “Today” stories on the web.

They’re accessible in almost any browser on any platform — but getting to them is nowhere near as simple as it should be.

The Today section came as part of a big App Store redesign for iOS 11 just under two years ago. It’s where Apple publishes editorials that showcase apps and developers, as well as helpful tips.

And now, for the first time since its introduction, Today section content is available on the web.

Today on the web

Today on the web is presented in a two-column layout when viewed on a desktop. You’ll see a title card on the left, with an App Store link to the featured app, and a story on the right.

Until now, these web previews simply redirected visitors to the App Store, so they could only be enjoyed on Mac or iOS. This change opens up the Today section to any platform.

But there’s a catch.

Where do you find it?

Enjoying the Today section in your browser isn’t easy. The only way to access the content is to visit a link shared from an Apple device; there is no dedicated page or website you can go to.

It’s not quite as open as we would like, then, but it’s a start. Now we just need to ability to browse the App Store and install apps via a browser — like Android users have had for years.
