Apple today kicked off its latest Back to School promotion. It gives students the opportunity to bag free Beats headphones with qualifying purchases.

The deal comes just as a more-affordable MacBook Air with True Tone and a faster 13-inch MacBook Pro were added to the Apple Store.

This year’s Back to School promotion is identical to that offered in previous years. If you were hoping big Apple Store gift cards would return, you’re going to be disappointed.

But it’s a win for those wanting a new set of Beats — and the promotion includes Apple’s high-end Beats Studio 3 headphones for the first time.

How to claim your free Beats headphones

To qualify for Apple’s Back to School promotion, you obviously have to be a student (or teacher). You will also need to purchase a new iMac, iMac Pro, MacBook Air, or MacBook Pro.

Depending on how much you spend, you’ll receive a free pair of BeatsX, Solo 3, or Studio 3 headphones worth up to $349.95.

The offer also applies to the 9.7-inch iPad, iPad Air, and iPad Pro. However, if you choose to pick up the pricey Studio 3 headphones, you’ll need to cough up the additional $149.95.

In addition to free headphones, students qualify for discounts on other Apple products, including 20% off AppleCare+.

You might want to shop elsewhere

The Back to School promotion ends on September 26, 2019. You can take advantage of it in Apple Stores, Apple Store for Education, Apple Authorized Campus Stores, and at 1-800-MY-APPLE.

If you’re not interested in free Beats, you might choose to shop elsewhere. Third-party retailers typically offer bigger reductions on the latest Apple computers.
