There’s a innovative option for people who want to make the most of the limited number of USB-C ports on their MacBook or iPad Pro: the Minix Neo Storage is a 4-port hub that also includes up to 240GB of built-in storage. And the price for all this is under $100.

Minix points out “The base MacBook Air and MacBook Pro models only include 128GB SSD and either two or four USB-C ports. Therefore, additional storage and a USB-C hub/adapter are must-have requirements for the majority of users.“ The Neo Storage takes care of both.

And while this accessory was developed with MacBook in mind, the upcoming release of iPadOS 13 should enable the 2018 iPad Pro to access all its storage and ports.

Any port in a storm

The Minix Neo Storage includes an HDMI port that supports up to 4K video at 30Hz.

There is also a pair of regular USB 3.0 Type-A ports for attaching other accessories, from keyboards to cameras. It’s USB-C port can only be used to power the computer this hub is attached to, however.

There are plenty of hubs with these ports and more, some designed specifically for the iPad Pro.What sets the Neo Storage apart from other hubs is the built-in SSD. Minix is charging $99.90 (€99.90) for the 240GB SSD version. It’s available now on Amazon.com.
