Kanex is the latest to deliver a USB-C hub for the 2018 iPad Pro. The iAdapt looks like one of the better options for adding must-have ports to your tablet, and it neatly clips onto the side of your device to keep everything tidy.

You can preorder yours today.

A number of manufacturers now offer USB-C hubs for the 2018 iPad Pro lineup. Some sport more traditional designs with dangling cables. Others attach directly to your iPad’s USB-C port and stick out of the side.

The iAdapt combines both of these approaches; it connects to your iPad Pro with a cable to prevent accidental damage, but also clips onto the corner of its screen to reduce clutter on your desk.

Kanex iAdapt turns 1 port into 6

The most important part of any USB-C hub is obviously its ports — and the iAdapt delivers the most important ones (for most users). It has HDMI, USB-C with power passthrough, USB 3.0, and SD and microSD card readers.

It supports displays with resolutions up to 2K at 60GHz, and data transfer speeds of up to 5Gbps over USB-C and USB 3.0. The iAdapt also offers a 3.5mm headphone jack, which a lot of rival hubs are missing.

The iAdapt does have its own cable, but it also attaches to the corner of your iPad. This prevents it from damaging your device’s USB-C port if it gets knocked off, but also allows it to stay out of your way.

Designed to work with a Smart Keyboard

The iAdapt has been designed to work with both the 11- and 12.9-inch iPad Pro (2018 models) fitted with Apple’s Smart Keyboard Folio. Thicker cases and keyboard covers are unlikely to be compatible.

If that doesn’t put you off, you can preorder the iAdapt today from B&H Photo. It’s priced at $99.95 and is scheduled to start shipping in July 8, at which point you should also be able to get it from other retailers in the U.S.
