Apple’s latest video is a humorous take a serious topic. It reminds users of this company’s commitment to privacy with the tagline: “If privacy matters in your life, it should matter to the phone your life is on.”

The video, called “Privacy on iPhone — Private Side,” shows a collection of ways we protect our privacy in the non-digital world: keep-out signs, doorlocks, thick drapes, whispering, and many more. Then it finishes with the note reminding people that their phone should be just as committed to keeping secrets.

Accompanying this minute-long video is the message “Your privacy matters. From encrypting your iMessage conversations, or not keeping a history of your routes in Maps, to limiting tracking across sites with Safari. iPhone is designed to protect your information.”

Apple ♥️ privacy

Apple frequently states its commitment to protecting the privacy of iPhone, iPad, and Mac owners. A note coded into iOS spells out its policy: “Apple believes privacy is a fundamental human right, so every Apple product is designed to minimize the collection and use of your data, use on-device processing whenever possible, and provide transparency and control over your information.”

The video is likely intended to contrast this belief with the business practices of Google, maker of the Android OS. That company gatheres as much personal information about users it can and sells it to advertisers. This is why its products are either inexpensive or free.
