Folding phones are getting lots of attention, but flexible screens can benefit tablets as well. A new concept video proposes a full-size iPad that can expand into a display larger than all but the biggest laptops.
Watch the video now:
The concept was dreamed up by Dongjae “Krystofer” Kim, and shows a 12.8-inch slate unfolding to 17.7 inches. This design has the screen on the outside, not wrapped into the interior of the computer like a laptop.
The proposed “iPad U” also includes triple camera lenses, though no specs for these are included.
Advantages of a folding iPad
Beyond the obvious benefits that a larger display would bring to watching video or accessing the web, a folding iPad could be set up as a laptop, with one side functioning as a keyboard and trackpad and the other angled up to act as the screen.
Of course, Kim isn’t the first to suggest that Apple make such a device. Cult of Mac recently published Nobody wants a folding phone anyway. But folding iPads?
