CES 2019 bugThe wait for Brydge’s sweet add-on keyboard for the new iPad Pro is almost over. The company today began taking pre-orders for an accessory that fully embraces the concept of turning this tablet into a laptop.

This premium keyboard has an all-aluminum casing and ships with a magnetic cover that protects the back of the iPad.

Like previous Brydge keyboards, this new version uses clips that also serve as hinges to join keyboard to tablet.

This version is the first that offers a cinema mode with the tablet reversed in its clips. Or the iPad Pro can be closed down over the keys in tablet mode. In short, Brydge’s offering makes this computer into a full 2-in-1.

Bluetooth is used to communicate with the iPad Pro. The accessory includes a USB-C port to charge its battery, just as the tablet does.

Pre-order Brydge’s 2018 iPad Pro keyboard

Although pre-orders can now be placed, the release of the Brydge for the 2018 iPad Pro won’t be until “early spring.” The accessory is being fully unveiled today so it can be on display at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.

The version for the 12.9-inch iPad costs $169.99. The one for Apple’s 11-inch tablet is $149.99. That makes these less expensive than the Apple Smart Keyboard Folio, but pricier than other keyboard cases for these new tablets.
