The 2018 iPhone lineup is shaping up to be the most colorful Apple ever put out, based on new leaked images of alleged SIM card trays destined for the iPhone 9 (or iPhone Xr or Xc — whatever Apple calls it).
Photos of the SIM card trays surfaced on Twitter this morning. It’s hard to tell if they’re legit. But if they are indeed destined for Apple’s cheaper 6.1-inch iPhone model, there will be at least five color options to choose from. Including brown!

We’ve already seen a few leaked cases for the iPhone Xr, but those only came out in three colors: red, white and blue. If these SIM card trays are the real deal, Apple will add space gray and brown to the mix.
Brown sounds like a weird color choice for Apple. We’re interested to see if it doesn’t look more like a copper or dark gold color.
iPhone Xr
The iPhone Xr is expected to be revealed tomorrow at a keynote on Apple’s campus. Naming details for the device remain a bit murky. It’s been referred to as an iPhone 9 or iPhone Xc in the past.
As the cheapest handset in Apple’s 2018 lineup, the iPhone Xr will allegedly pack a 6.1-inch LCD edge-to-edge display with Face ID. Other features could include an A12 processor, more RAM and improved cameras.
Apple’s iPhone keynote is set to start at 10 a.m. Pacific on Wednesday, September 12. Per usual, Cult of Mac will be here live-blogging all the action. Come back and enjoy the show with us.
