You can now use Apple Pay as you travel Milan on the metro system.

Contactless payment terminals have been installed throughout underground subways, allowing you to pay for tickets using your iPhone or Apple Watch. You can also use compatible MasterCard and Visa credit and debit cards.

Apple is desperate to encourage more people to use Apple Pay. It is even offering weekly discounts and freebies for those who do. This suggests the service doesn’t have quite as many users as the company would like.

Nevertheless, Apple Pay has taken off like no other mobile payments system that came before it. So much so that just about anywhere you go now accepts Apple Pay payments — even summer festivals.

Apple Pay hits Milan

The Milan metro system is the latest to start accepting Apple Pay payments, with new payment terminals now installed in subways throughout the city.

Any device compatible with Apple Pay can be used — including your Apple Watch. If you happen to leave your Apple devices at home, you can also pay with compatible credit and debit cards.
