badge It’s pretty hard to run a business today without accounting for the devices your employees use to do their jobs. We’re all pretty technically savvy here at Cult of Mac, but as a distributed team, there is a huge need for us to agree on apps, settings and tools that we use.

Mobile device management products are designed to solve exactly this problem, and today we’re announcing Jamf Now as our official Mobile Device Management (MDM) solution.

Why Jamf Now?

Since Cult of Mac doesn't have a dedicated IT staff, Jamf Now lets us cut down on technical issues and stay focused on bringing you the best Apple news.

Jamf Now is the easiest MDM service that we’ve found. No sales calls or hoops to jump through — you just sign up and get started.

Jamf Now also makes a bunch of complicated concepts and requirements very simple. We don’t have a dedicated IT staff, so Jamf Now allows us to cut down on technical issues and keep us focused on bringing you the best Apple news.

Jamf Now’s open enrollment allows our contributors to use their own devices and still get the apps and settings they need to collaborate as a team.

What Jamf Now MDM solution does for us

This makes a few fun things possible:

  • New hires get their company email configured, on-site Wi-Fi access for those occasional office visits, and Slack account automatically. Plus, a storage app appears on their phone with tax forms and internal documents in case they ever need them for reference.
  • When we change the office Wi-Fi password, no one needs to be told what it is. We just update it in Jamf Now, and poof!
  • We can easily manage licenses for our paid business apps. If someone leaves the company, their licenses go back into a pool and can be reused later.
  • At conferences and other events, we can put an iPad into Single App Mode to collect email addresses and newsletter signups without worrying that someone will mess with the device.

We don’t often ship our employees new hardware, but when we do, we can have the devices provisioned on startup without ever needing to touch them ourselves.

We started out using only a few features, but Jamf Now does everything you might need. The company also makes it easy to scale up as you understand better how MDM can help your business. It’s the best way to get your team on the same page … and the same apps.

We know a lot of you out there use or have need of an MDM product as part of your job, so we wanted to put our recommendation out there to check out Jamf Now.
