Apple gave developers a hot new beta for iOS 12 this morning, adding a host of improvements to its huge update for iPhones and iPads that is coming out this fall.

iOS 12 beta 2 comes just two weeks after Apple revealed the update at WWDC 2018. The update contains a number of UI tweaks, new apps and performance improvements that are supposed to make the iPhone and iPad more stable than ever.

Registered developers can grab iOS 12 beta 2 from the online Apple developer portal. It can also be installed via an over-the-air update if you have the previous iOS 12 beta installed.

What’s new in iOS 12

Release notes for iOS 12 beta 2 don’t mention any huge changes, but we’re sure to find a lot of little tweaks once we get it installed on our devices.

Apple is “doubling-down on performance” with iOS 12. The update addresses growing complaints from users with older iPhones and iPads, who have suffered significant slowdowns with the release of recent iOS updates.

With iOS 12 an iPhone 6 Plus, for instance, apps load up to 40 percent faster, the keyboard opens up to 50 percent faster, and the Camera app launches up to 70 percent faster.
