iPhone SE 2 could steal iPhone X’s edge-to-edge display (and notch)

Apple’s new iPhone SE, expected to make its debut this month, may not be a clone of its predecessors after all.

One popular accessory-maker, which has already started producing screen protectors for the device, expects the iPhone SE 2 to feature an edge-to-edge display with a notch — just like iPhone X.

The iPhone SE still carries the same design Apple introduced with the iPhone 5 way back in 2012. Apple was expected to retain the same form factor this year, but with a new glass back that would allow for wireless charging. Its front wasn’t supposed to change.

But we could be in for a big surprise.

iPhone SE 2 could get an edge-to-edge display

Olixar, a popular case and accessory manufacturer, has already started making products for the iPhone SE 2. They are based on details it has obtained from partners in China, which indicate that the refreshed handset will feature an edge-to-edge display adopted from iPhone X.

The iPhone SE 2 is also expected to carry the controversial notch, which will supposedly house its sensors, speaker, and front-facing camera. Olixar says it will look just like a mini iPhone X from the front, however, it will retain its straight edges.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard that the new iPhone SE could carry an edge-to-edge display, but it seems unlikely given that it is Apple’s most affordable handset by far. To maintain its tiny price tag, the company usually makes minimal changes — just enough to keep it feeling fresh.

Olixar is convinced that won’t be the case this time around. In fact, you can already order its iPhone SE 2 screen protector from MobileFun. We suggest you hold onto your cash until Apple makes the new iPhone SE official.
