Google Street View does Disneyland

Google Street View now offers panoramic views from nearly a dozen Disney theme parks, giving users a glimpse inside.

These join thousands of other immersive images from attractions around the world already in the app.

Although Google makes the Android operating system, it also makes applications for iPhone and iPad that are nearly as feature-rich as on the competing platform. Street View is just one example. Google makes extensions and plugins for iOS apps that bring some of the company’s search moxie to Apple products.

The Google Street View update brings 360-degree panoramic images from the Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and the new Pandora theme park. You also will find pictures from Disney resorts, restaurants and stores.

These prove as immersive as 2D images can be, allowing the user to look around by moving their device. It’s possible to look up as well (to appreciate the size of the famous Epcot geosphere, for example).

Those who just want to sample can do so without installing Street View, as there are images from all the parks available on Google’s Street View website. This is just a subset of the full collection, however.

Anyone wanting more can download the Google Street View iOS app from the App Store free of charge. Unfortunately, this app doesn’t natively support iPad screen sizes — it’s designed only for the iPhone. There’s no landscape support, either, so perhaps Google isn’t fully committed to iOS.
