Alto’s Odyssey, the long-awaited follow up 2015’s brilliant Alto’s Adventure endless snowboarding game has finally arrived in the App Store — one day ahead of schedule.

The new game in the series transports the action to a dessert sandboarding setting, and adds new elements including wall rides, vortexes that will propel you through the air, and aerial obstacles such as hot air balloons that you can propel yourself off. Check out the trailer below.

Alto’s Odyssey was originally supposed to launch in summer 2017, but was delayed to add some finishing touches. While we had expected it to arrive in the App Store on February 22, it seems that the developers decided to give us a pleasant surprise by shipping (or whatever shipping is called in an age of digital distribution) one day ahead of schedule.

I haven’t had a chance yet to properly dive into the game yet but, given how much I loved Alto’s Adventure, I can’t wait to dedicate a series chunk of time to it over the coming days. Something tells me this will be part of this week’s “Awesome Apps” roundup come Sunday.

Alto’s Odyssey is a universal app for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, costing a one-off price of $4.99. If it’s close to its predecessor in terms of quality, that price is an absolute steal!
