The official launch of Apple Pay Cash is finally here and you can even use it to send friends money from your Apple Watch.
Apple released watchOS 4.2 to the public today, bringing a host of new features and bug fixes, including support for the new Apple Pay Cash feature that started trickling out to iPhone users yesterday.
To install watchOS 4.2 you’ll need to update your Apple Watch through the Watch app on your iPhone. In the app, go to General Software update. You’ll have to place it on the charger and have 50% battery to install the software.
Apple Pay Cash
With the addition of Apple Pay Cash, Apple Watch owners can now send and receive money from friends using iMessage. The feature is also available on iPhones with the iOS 11.2 update that come out over the weekend.
Apple Pay Cash can be linked to your debit or credit card. There’s no fee for transactions when you use a debit card. When you received money it is temporarily stored on an Apple Pay Cash card in your Wallet. The funds can then be used for Apple Pay purchases or you can transfer it to your bank account.
watchOS 4.2 also brings a couple other new features like a third-party support to track distance, average speed, runs and elevation with Apple Watch Series 3. Apple also added HomeKit support for sprinklers and faucets.
