iPhone and iPad users received a surprise update from Apple today in the form of iOS 11.0.2.

The new update was never seeded to developers for beta testing, but it appears to come with some much-needed bug fixes and performance improvements for Apple’s mobile devices.

iOS 11.0.2 comes just over a week after Apple dropped its last unexpected software update for iOS. That software update didn’t come with any major UI changes or bug fixes, but it did pack some important under-the-hood improvements.

It appears that iOS 11.0.2 fixes the crackling earpiece issue on the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus. The issue only affected a small number of iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus earpieces, resulting in a distracting static noise during calls.

iOS users can grab the new update over-the-air by going to the Settings app and then checking the Software Update option in the General section. You can also install it via iTunes.

Apple is currently beta testing iOS 11.1 with developers and public testers. The update brings some updated animations as well as multiple emoji typing suggestions at once. It should be available to the public in the coming weeks.

I upgraded my iPad 2017 to IOS 11.0.1 and immediately suffered freezing on internet pages.. Spoke to Apple Support who tried various things that didn’t help, eventually they suggested restoring back to factory settings, problem for me is that I can’t get my photographs off the iPad because Windows Explorer sees DCIM as an empty folder, despite trying EVERY fix on the internet, my PC running Windows 10 will not show my photographs so I can’t copy them to my hard drive.
My iPad is just about 6 weeks old and really bad since IOS 11, the latest release has not resolved the issue, strangely, my wife also has a new 2017 iPad, hers is fine.
