What should we call the next 4-inch iPhone? The iPhone 7c? The iPhone 6c? The iPhone 5se?

No matter what it’s called, there’s every indication it’s coming. And if this video is to be believed, this might be our first glimpse of what it looks like.

Chinese iPhone and gadget site MIC Gadget posted a video yesterday purporting to show the next 4-inch iPhone, as taped by a Foxconn employee.

As you can see, it looks like the iPhone 6s, only smaller. This is in keeping with previous rumors about the next 4-inch iPhone’s physical design.

That said, there’s a lot of reason to be skeptical. First of all, there’s the source: MIC Gadget doesn’t have much of a track record recently when it comes to accurately revealing what’s happening within Apple’s supply chain.

As for the video? Even if we’re to believe this iPhone is an Apple product, there’s no way to scale it. We’re told it’s a 4-inch iPhone, but what if the guy holding it just has huge hands?

What do you think? Fake or real? Let us know in the comments.

If they’re going to create a new design for the iPhone 7 (which history, shows they most likely will), then wouldn’t it be more consistent to offer the 3 screen sizes (4″, 4.7″ and 5.5″) using the new design, rather than the fragmentation of introducing the new design for the 4.7″ and 5.5″ and using the old design for the 4″?

There is a way to scale it: measure the space between the home button and the bezel. On an iPhone 5 (a 4-inch device) the gap is approx. 2.2x the width of the home button (35.5mm). The device in screenshot above lines up with that measurement. Also, an iPhone 5 has the camera above the receiver, but the device in the picture has the camera to the left of the receiver so it’s not an iPhone 5. It looks like this one has a larger screen, probably for purposes of scaling to accommodate the proportions of the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.

My stance is that the next iPhone will have a headphone jack and all the people saying they’re getting rid of it are wrong. But those same people would use the appearance of the headphone jack in the video to say this a fake. It smells legit to me and I think it’s a 6c, with a 6/6 Plus level feature set, that comes out before the 7 comes out, with a new design, in the fall.

Until Ming Chi-Kuo says it’s coming, I am highly skeptical.

It may just be another one of the many “replica” series iPhones out there …. only smaller….. there are several being made in China with the exact case design as the Apple products. Notice they have the logo covered with tape (no Apple logo here???) anyhow….. will not be suprised if the ‘real’ one looks just like this…

No question–the phone is real, but that hand is fake!

    George Costanza’s hand, it’s not!

Then they will release the mini-hump battery case.
