Is this the best TV deal of Cyber Monday?

Yes, the logical part of me realizes that paying $7,000 for a TV set is still the cost of a more-than-acceptable second-hand car, a good chunk of student loan repayments, or half a year of rent or mortgage payments.

On the other hand… this beautiful television comes with a 78-inch display, curved screen for immersive home theater setup, 2160p resolution for jaw-dropping HD images, and octa-core processor for browsing the web or downloading and using apps.

Jurassic World Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD

The new Jurassic World movie was great (and I’ll fight anyone who says otherwise!) — with a concept that raised the technological bar on what was possible back in 1993, when Jurassic Park came out, while also taking a few elements from the Michael Crichton original novel and running with them. In high-heeled shoes.

$10 for this Limited Edition set, featuring the movie’s Blu-ray + DVD + Digital HD versions is most definitely worth it. How can you possibly go wrong?

Here are the best deals on big new TVs this weekend

A lot of shoppers are keeping a keen eye out for savings on upgrading their entertainment setups this weekend, and so are we. We’ve covered a few options already (just scroll down to check those out), but if you’re looking for a great deal on a big new screen, here are some of the best ones we’ve found. We’re going in descending size order because why not?

70-inch Vizio Smart TV – You might want to grab some protective, trample-free pads if you’re going to brave Walmart this year. It’ll have this 70-inch Vizio smart set for a mere $898. We don’t know anything about what kind or how many input ports it has, but we wouldn’t risk our lives for fewer than two HDMIs. Barring that, you can probably grab a pretty good hub on the cheap if it comes up short.

Where: Walmart
When: 6 p.m. Thursday
Regular Price: $1,198
You Save: $300

60-inch Samsung smart TV – Samsung makes a good HDTV, so this 60-inch smart offering for $699.99 is pretty tempting. It’s a slightly better dollar-per-inch value than the Vizio at Walmart, even though it’s a smaller screen. Probably better news for deal-seekers, however, is the fact that this deal is happening at multiple stores (give or take a couple bucks).

Where: Target, Best Buy, Sears
When: Available now
Original Price: $999.99
You Save: $300

55-inch Westinghouse – I’d forgotten Westinghouse even made TVs, but Target’s got a good line on a 55-inch, non-smart model for $250. It’s a pretty solid option for those looking for a good-sized screen without a lot of frills, and you don’t particularly care about brand. And that’s basically what the reviews say; it’s currently pulling a 3/5 average on Target’s site.

Where: Target (in-store only)
When: 6 p.m. Thursday
Original Price: $599.99

Walmart is selling iPad mini 2 for $199

Walmart is offering the 16GB Wi-Fi iPad mini 2 in space gray or silver for an incredible $199. The sale is happening right now and even includes free shipping or free pickup at your local store.

The iPad mini 2 was the first iPad mini to receive the Retina display treatment. It also features Apple’s A7 chip and a 5MP iSight camera with 1080p video recording. Like all iPad minis, its display is 7.9 inches and it’ll last for 10 hours of usage.

Apple has been selling the iPad mini 2 since 2013 but has been seemingly reluctant to lower the price by too much. It regularly sits at a price of $269 despite being two generations behind the $399 iPad mini 4. At the $199 sale price, you’re getting a great value on a tablet that’s very capable.

Pro Tip: the most important feature when buying a 4K TV

You might be looking to upgrade your TV to a super hi-res 4K model using one of the ridiculous deals we’ve been plugging all week, but if you are, you’ll want to look out for one must-have feature.

The good folks at BFAds are killing it with their Black Friday reporting and buying guides, and they have some helpful advice for those in the market for a 4K TV:

“Purchasing a special Black Friday SKU 4K HDTV is especially risky because of copyright protection called HDCP which prevents HD content from being pirated over an HDMI cable,” BFAds’ Efren Abrego writes. “4K content requires HDMI 2.0 and the newest HDCP version 2.

“Simply put, be sure your new precious is up to date on its copyright protection, or you won’t be able to grab even half of those Ks you paid for. Not unless you’re willing to break a law or two. But we at Cult of Mac neither support nor condone any illegal activity, and neither should you. Just make sure you’re getting every line of resolution that you want.

Time’s Money.com reports that Minnesota and California have both decided to #OptOutside this year, offering free admission and camping in their respective state recreational sites.

Minnesota is offering free admission to all 75 state parks and recreation areas on Black Friday (now called Free Park Friday), November 27, 2015.

“With free park entry all day, you have no excuse not to get out there and walk off your turkey dinner!” says the website announcement.

California followed suit soon after with its own “Free Friday in the Redwoods” event, where you can get free admission to 49 California state parks on Friday, November 27.

“Thanksgiving is a great American tradition,” says Sam Hodder, president and chief executive officer of Save the Redwoods League. “This year, Save the Redwoods League wants to make it even better. We are starting a new tradition for Black Friday. We invite everyone to experience the moments of joy, renewal and inspiration that you’ll find among our natural wonders, the ancient giant redwoods.”
