The iPhone is probably the best, most portable gaming device around. Even so, sometimes nostalgia kicks in and you miss your old Gameboy.

The Arduboy is a new, credit card-size console that is just as portable as an iPhone, if not more so. And it can play all the old 8-bit games your iPhone can’t.

Now on Kickstarter, the Arduboy is a game system you can fit in your wallet that sort of looks like a vintage Gameboy from the front.

It features a lovely OLED display and six buttons. And it can run any number of games built upon the Arduino chipset.

There aren’t many of those right now, but the creators of the Arduboy hope that the diminutive console will soon spark a miniature retro revolution.

Did we mention it has a great Kickstarter pledge video?

Right now, the Arduboy is just a prototype, but come October it will be a retail product. You can preorder one now for just $39.

Sure, the iPhone will probably still be a better gaming system. But with a battery that can last eight hours per charge, and physical controls to boot, doesn’t the Arduboy look like a great backup to have with you?
