It’s going to be nearly impossible to get your hands on an iPhone 6 Plus this weekend. Carrier sources are saying that there is basically “no chance” of finding the 6 Plus during tomorrow’s big launch.
“We are told that stores have been receiving shipments all throughout the day, and out of all the new iPhone 6 models received, typically only about 2-3% are iPhone 6 Plus units, and in only one color,” reports BGR. “Sources also said there are no 16GB iPhone 6 Plus devices to be found.”
Regular iPhone 6 inventory seems to be in good shape, however. So for those wanting the 4.7-inch iPhone, all storage capacities and colors should be available “to some degree.”
It should come as no surprise that the 6 Plus will be in scarce supply. Apple’s initial preorder shipments of the 6 Plus sold out within in a few hours of availability, and many 6 Plus preorders aren’t shipping until mid to late October.
Although lines are already forming around the world, your best bet for getting the iPhone model you want tomorrow is still your local Apple Store. If that doesn’t work out, check availability at places people don’t normally think to look, like Walmart, Costco, Staples, and Target.

I hope this isn’t true man, I’m going to sit in front of an apple store for 12 hours and I will be really upset if there aren’t at least 100 6+
Agree with your statement!!
Best to preorder yours with the carrier ASAP because “many 6 Plus preorders aren’t shipping until mid to late October.”
I preordered yesterday (was on the fence, so waited) and mine might not be here until Thanksgiving!
Apple will likely have some, just again my be 16GB 6 Plus models since they seem to think users want the limited storage.
Are you kidding. Stores are getting like 1 or 2.
maybe carrier stores. iPhones ship in boxes of 10 so they would have at least that many of every model. Although it’s likely more like 50-100. Even the smallest Apple stores get a good 1k phones for a launch day. Carrier stores have a different system for sending out to stores so yeah they could end up screwed over. But that’s not Apple, that’s the carrier doing it to themselves
From what the Apple employee at my store said (KC, Mo) they have multiple units in each configuration for each carrier in the 6 Plus. Maybe that’s just one or two per configuration, but that comes to about 20 at this store.
Looking forward to my 6Plus delivery tomorrow ;)
This article is about carrier stores. Everyone knows the bulk of product goes to Apple retail stores first and then carriers and then stores like Best Buy, Target, etc.
Standard apple move, screw the majority sellers over but that has been their policy all along.
I chose to not even bother, I asked a couple AT&T stores tonight if they would “likely” get any 128GB 6Plus models and they said “if” they got any 6Plus they would be 16GB at most and didn’t expect many if at all. So I pre-ordered from the ATT site and will get it in say 6-8 weeks. Maybe sooner if enough buyers get remorse, pissed off waiting, figure out it won’t fit in their skinny jeans etc.
Should have pre ordered from apples website. It’s 3-4 weeks. I just pre ordered
In England I work for EE. In our store we took delivery of two 16 GB iPhone Plus in Silver yesterday, the only pre-orders we got were for Space Grey and Gold devices, so the inventory we are receiving is really erratic, and what analysts and “sources” are saying is inaccurate.
I stopped by my local AT&T store tonight and they had a piece of paper in the window that said “We will have no iPhone 6 plus’s on launch day”
What the hell?! Why did Apple supply so little 6+ phones? Did they think no one would buy it?
None here either. I was in lineup an hour before they opened, and they said they were “sold out” of the 6 plus. Can’t “sell out” of something you don’t actually sell…
1. We don’t know that they did. BGR isn’t actually a valid insider source
2. The carriers decide what to buy and where to send it. It’s classic for them to bulk up on what sells the most and limit the outliers. Why? Because they can’t return the phones if they don’t sell. Ordering a ton of something and not having it sell is no good for them. So they avoid the risk and always under order.
I hope you are wrong. I am first in line at a local ATT store. Store manager led me to believe if I got here first thing, I could score a 6+..
Glad I only want the 6. The 6 Plus just seems too big.
i got a 16gb 6 plus today and waited in line for about an hour at the att store- there were about 20 people in front of me when i started lining up
Verizon in DFW had only 4 6+…ugh
Not even being less than 50 in line reservations at my carrier for the 6 Plus ensured one for today, not even waking up at 3AM ensured one arriving today, I’m looking at another week maybe two weeks till this thing even ships, let alone arrives.
It’s all good though, 6 Plus will be worth the wait.
Grabbed a 64 Gig 6 Plus at VZW store this morning. The person before AND after me got one as well. After work, I stopped at Best Buy to get the Zagg/Glass shield that VZW didn’t have for the 6 Plus and people were still getting both models from Best Buy, although the 6 Plus at Best Buy were 16 Gig models. Apparently, the held back 6 Plus orders to get people out to the stores and it worked big time. Best Buy had sold out of two racks of 6 Plus cases and was restocking them when I got there.
Yeah I got a 64gb 6 plus at Verizon as well, and only had to wait a few hours.
I was 5th in line at Verizon waited 4 hours and got the 64gb space grey version.
EDIT: it was however that only one they had.
It’s way to big. I played with one yesterday. I’m happy with 4.7
how did they not make enough iPhone 6’s to last even 1 day!!!! lol
Seems like you’re just throwing around the term “no chance”. My friend happened to walk into a store and get one. They had 20 left. Do you mean “no chance” or “slim chance”.
If you’re still looking for an iPhone 6 or 6 Plus (and who isn’t, they’re still impossible to find), we just started tracking local and online retailer inventory at iPhoneInventory.com
