Amazon Buys ComiXology

By

Oh man, I just can’t wait for this week to be over. First the entire Internet turns out to have been broken for the last two years. Then Dropbox hires Condoleezza “Cruella de Vil” Rice to help out with security. And now Amazon has bought out ComiXology, the digital comic book store/platform.

I’m ready for the weekend.

ComiXology, which is the main storefront when buying comics from mainstream and indie publishers for the iPad and most other tablets and phones, is an obvious target for Amazon. Like Goodreads, ComiXology will keep its own branding and “retain its identity as an Amazon subsidiary.”

It really does look we’re headed for a futures with nothing but Google, Facebook and Amazon running the Internet, with any promising alternatives assimilated as soon as they get successful. Welcome to the future.
