Timbre Speakers Are Old-School Beautiful

Ever wanted a pair of speakers that look like old-school toasters? (And I mean old-school: the kind of toaster that had bare, easy-to-touch elements and metal sides that were more likely to burn your hands than burn the toast.

Well, reader-with-oddly-specific-desires, we have you covered. For the Timbre Speakers are just what you’re looking for.

The speakers are actually pretty old-school in their function, too. They are made from alder and stainless steel, and hook up via cables using a standard jack. Inside, though, things get a little weird: the steel sheet is actually part of the speaker itself, driven by a voice-coil inside and acting acting as the speaker diaphragm. I have no idea what this would sound like, but it certainly looks cool.

Also cool is the price. The Timbre’s will be around $175 when they launch in January.
