As the public release of iOS 7 looms, momentum behind the world of jailbreaking has stalled. There hasn’t been a big jailbreak release in months and there likely won’t be one for many months to come.

But a mid-year funk hasn’t stopped talented hackers and developers from gathering yet again at JailbreakCon, the world’s only convention dedicated solely to the jailbreaking community.

Unlike last year in San Francisco, this year’s con in New York City has been split up between two days. The first is a full day of workshops for developers and hackers. On Saturday, August 24th, the event is open for the public to hear talks from the likes of Jay Freeman, creator of the jailbreak app store known as Cydia. Plenty of excellent jailbreak tweak-makers will be giving talks and we expect that the future of jailbreaking post-iOS 7 will be a major theme.

JailbreakCon plans to livestream Saturday’s talks, which you can learn more about on the con’s website, throughout the day. Tune into the Livestream if you want to follow along from home and also follow Cult of Mac’s upcoming JailBreakCon coverage.
