Geohot is back with a new app.

George Hotz is known to his legions of online fans as “geohot,” the infamous hacker who was the first to unlock the iPhone and crack the Sony PS3. Hotz has been flying under the radar lately, but he’s about to make his first foray into the App Store with a new iPhone app.

The app is called Reactions, and it’s currently being reviewed by Apple. The idea is relatively simple, and it has the potential to either be a massive flop or make it big. It’s photo sharing with a twist.

Most people share photos they take on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Reactions isn’t looking to directly compete with those networks. The app captures your face along with whatever picture you’re taking. The iPhone’s front and rear cameras are utilized at once. So instead of just seeing your cappuccino, your friends can see how you feel about your cappuccino. Ok.

There’s an element of immediacy too. Reactions will automatically share the photo you take unless you tap the screen within 3 seconds of taking it. So it’s the opposite of the traditional create/edit/send process we’re all used to in social apps.

Instead of developing something that’s exclusive for jailbreakers (arguably his biggest supporters), Hotz has decided to go the official route and get into App Store development. It’s interesting that Hotz is creating a social app since his last gig was at Facebook. He certainly knows what he’s doing. We’ll let you know when it goes live in the App Store.
