iPad Mini To Hit Stores On November 2, Pre-Orders Start October 26 [Rumor]

Invites to Apple’s iPad mini announcement went out yesterday, so it’s time speculation turned its focus to when the much-anticipated device will actually go on sale. One source claims that you’ll be able to pick it up in shops on November 2, with pre-orders starting a week earlier — on October 26 — via the Apple Online Store.

Geeky-Gadgets.com cites a source  “close to a major UK retailer,” who claims the dates above are accurate for the United States and the United Kingdom, and “possibly some other countries as well.” The report insists that the source “has been reliable in the past.”

While these dates certainly seem accurate to us, we hardly needed a source to let us know. Based on the recent iPhone 5 launch — any many more before it — we expected Apple to start pre-orders on the Friday following the event, and then launch the device one week later.

Not only does this follow Apple’s recent pattern, but it also means the iPad mini goes on sale before Apple’s rumored Lightning conference in China between November 7 and November 8. And it means that there’s plenty of time for demand to die down before the Black Friday rush.

We’ll know Apple’s plans for certain, of course, on October 23, when the company holds its press event at the San Jose California Theatre.
