According to The Wall Street Journal, Sprint will offer Apple’s iPhone come this October. Currently, the iPhone is only available on AT&T and Verizon. An AT&T/T-Mobile merger is currently in the process of being approved by the FCC, so that leaves Sprint as the lonely, iPhone-less kid in the corner.

According to a new report, Sprint will soon be able to share in Apple’s ‘magical’ smartphone when the iPhone 5 is launched in October.

Sprint’s shares have already gone up on Wall Street:

“Like a gift from Heaven (or Steve Jobs), shares of battered Sprint are soaring on news Sprint may soon sell the iPhone.”

WSJ:

“Sprint Nextel Corp. will begin selling the iPhone 5 in mid-October, people familiar with the matter said, closing a huge hole in the No. 3 U.S. carrier’s lineup and giving Apple Inc. another channel for selling its popular phone.

The timing, however, indicates Apple’s new iPhone will hit the market later than expected and too late to contribute to sales in the company’s fiscal fourth quarter, which ends in September. Most observers had expected the device to arrive next month.”

It’s also expected that the iPhone 4 will sell alongside the iPhone 5 on Sprint’s network this Fall. Sprint is built on CDMA technology, and it’s also been reported that Apple’s next iPhone will be a ‘world phone’ capable of running on both GSM and CDMA networks.
