Update: Apple has now released iTunes 10.4 which can be downloaded now via Software Update, of from Apple’s website.
Following the release of OS X Lion earlier today, Apple is set to drop an update to iTunes which will be 64-bit and will boast full-screen support.
“People familiar with the matter” have passed on a screenshot of Software Update to AppleInsider, which includes iTunes 10.4 sporting the build number “1010A59,” and the iWork ’09 update which we reported on earlier.
The release notes read:
What’s new in iTunes 10.4
iTunes 10.4 is now designed for OS X Lion.
You can now use iTunes with OS X Lion’s new Full-Screen App capability, which allows you to use iTunes and other apps without distractions. Navigate between full-screen apps with a simple gesture.
Note: iTunes is now a 64-bit Cocoa application on OS X Lion and includes a number of important stability and performance improvements. Some iTunes plug-ins may no longer be compatible with this version of iTunes. Please contact the plug-in developer for an updated plug-in compatible with iTunes 10.4
Developers with access to Apple’s latest iTunes 10.5 beta will already be familiar with these updates.

YES!!!!! Full screen iTunes. Since they took away my Front Row and I don’t want to hack a new Front Row onto my system, this is great news!Â
So does this mean that my iTunes will stop freezing on me (Not Responding) because i have over 400 gigabytes of music in my library. It seems to always lock up on me. i really hope this fixes my issue.. I’m surprised more people do not suffer the same issue I have, most people should have large collections by now that would cause problems with iTunes… i dunno, unless anyone thinks my issue is something else, which i would question because this happens on all my macs and i just got a new iMac 27inch,on june 6th and my macbook pro is early 2011 and both lock up when accessing my 400 gig music collection, one is on firwire 800 hard drive, the other is on the main hard drive (iMac with 1tb) dying for this issue to be fixed!!!
400 GB of music? I doubt you’ve listened to all of them, and when you have that many songs, they’re most likely pirated…
Is anyone having trouble with Mx Air’s button tasks? Next, Previous, Play/Pause buttons doesn’t work for me anymore. Only for iTunes 10.4. WTF?
Whatever, this does nothing for me and my 2^65 ogg vorbis music files. Looks like I’m going to have to stick with winamp, it runs great through Wine. Plus I’ve got a killer skin for it.
Um, and who exactly gives a shit?
