A little under two years after Snow Leopard’s debut, and after we’ve all waited for what seems like twice as long, Apple has finally released OS X 10.7 Lion to end users.
OS X Lion 10.7 is the first version of OS X to be distributed exclusively through the Mac App Store, so you’ll have to be upgraded to Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to install the update.
A license to run OS X Lion costs $29.99, which can run on multiple machines, as long as they are connected to the same Apple ID.
The download is about 4GB, and can only be run on a machine running the latest version of Snow Leopard.
Remember: if you don’t have a minimum of a Mac running an Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 2GB of RAM, you can’t run Lion.
Should you buy Lion? For the nitty-gritty, read our 6 page, 7,000 word review, but in a word: YES.
In a sentence? OS X Lion is the first great operating system of the post-PC age, and anticipates the way we will look at laptops and desktops for years to come. It’s the best version of OS X yet. If you have the specs to run it, start downloading it now.
Buy Lion here.
